Lactation Consultants are required to have thousands of hours of assisting breastfeeding babies and their mothers. Lactation consultants are the breastfeeding specialists. They provide
skilled breastfeeding assistance to mothers and their children.
- Meeting with
a lactation consultant within 1-2 days of leaving the hospital will
ensure that breastfeeding gets off to a good start.
- Too many mothers
wait to see how things will go. This oftentimes results in problems
that take longer to resolve or mothers starting to supplement with
formula or giving up breastfeeding all together.
- The more days that your baby has problems breastfeeding the longer it takes to fix the problem. For instance, if your baby is 4 days old, it will probably take 4 days to resolve the issues. If your baby is 2 weeks old, it will possibly take 2 weeks to resolve the issues.
- Please do not wait and see if things are going to get better. Get help right away.
- We teach you how to comfortably feed your baby.
- We give you the much needed reassurance all new mothers want so that they can reach their breastfeeding goals.
- We support your breastfeeding goals, whether you want to feed for 2 weeks, 2 months, or 2 years.
- We respect your decision to exclusively breastfeed or to offer both breastmilk and formula to your baby. Only you can make those decisions for your family.
- Many mothers want to breastfeed for much longer than they are able. This is due mainly to lack of support.
- We are there for you to support you for as long as it takes for you to master the art of breastfeeding.
"Breastfeeding is to formula feeding as a Renoir or Rembrandt is to finger painting. It takes work to learn it and refine it but once it is accomplished you have created a masterpiece that no one can duplicate. And the health benefits to you and your child are worth millions."
