Why is breastmilk critical for babies?

breastfeeding baby, breast feeding, milks up

Babies are sterile when they come into this world of germs. With extremely immature immune systems, they are completely dependent on their mother's milk or donor milk to give them the immune protection they need.

Breastmilk is critical. Give your baby as much breastmilk as you can, for as long as you can. It is like putting money in the bank for a rainy day.

And remember:

Our Mothers are amazing, our Babies are awesome and Breastmilk is phenomenal.

Jennifer Lipton O'Connor breastfeeding Milk's Up

There has been a great deal of excitement at The New Born Baby Bistro™ recently as our breastfeeding moms decided on a universal sign to show their breastfeeding support to women around the world. Thanks to Jennifer Lipton O'Connor for her brilliant suggestion and to all the moms that decided on the hand gesture. Thanks to Julie Roberts for coming up with "Milk's Up." There has been a lot of laughter and pure fun. I am one fortunate middle aged woman to be able to hang out with these fabulous moms and babies and their wonderful ideas.

Our Mothers are amazing, our Babies are awesome and Breastmilk is spectacular!

Spread the sign. Milk's Up™!

P.S. "Why the scarf?" my son asked. Well, this was suppose to be just a rehearsal. After shooting about 10 runs, my husband said, "this is it!" So minutes before midnight I agreed to call it a go. Oh well, I had the scarf on because I was cold. And now that I'm in the middle ages, it doesn't bother me if I fail the glamour test.
