Lactation Consultations

Based on 10 years of working with mothers and babies as a lactation consultant, I have found that most mothers need 3-4 visits to fully resolve their breastfeeding issues. Please consider purchasing one of our packages to take advantage of the considerable savings.

We believe that every mother and baby deserve to have a successful and enjoyable breastfeeding relationship. Please do not hesitate to call us if you feel that you cannot afford our services. We will be happy to discuss alternative financial arrangements, if necessary.

"Your office is sooooo... comfortable. May I stay here all day?"

"I can not believe how relaxed I am here. My baby is the most relaxed I have ever seen her."

"I thought I could only nurse in my glider at home, but coming to your office taught me that I can go anywhere and still nurse my baby."

"It is so nice to get out of the house for a change of scenery. I'm glad we chose to come to the office."

"Watching the animation and seeing the posters on positioning and latch were extremely helpful. I feel so much better. I can do this!"

"Debbie showed me how to position my baby so that I do not need to use any pillows. Wow, now I can breastfeed anywhere without having to drag my pillow along!"
We do not rush you or your baby.
Babies decide when to latch & feed, not anyone else.

Your relationship with us begins from the moment you first call or email us and continues for many years. The relationship with your new born baby brings up new questions every week. We are there for you to help you through your baby's first year of life.

Most of our former clients call us as soon as they are expecting their 2nd or 3rd baby, excited to reconnect with us.

FREE! Receive the growth charts based on breastfeeding children to plot your baby's weight and length. Many offices still use the growth charts based on formula fed children.

We offer a holistic* approach to helping you welcome and nurture your new baby(ies).

*The holistic approach to mother and baby care recognizes that the emotional, mental, spiritual and physical elements of each mother/baby dyad comprise a system. It attempts to treat the whole dyad in its context. In routine healthcare, the mother and baby are often seen as two separate entities. In mother baby care, holism tends to imply an all-inclusive practice perspective. It can be seen as a gradual layering of different practices allowing the mother and baby to reach a harmony or euphoria and bonding as a combined unit that otherwise is unattainable. Holism sets mother and baby consultants apart from other professions that participate in mother or baby care. This view is supported and advocated by practicing mother baby consultants and mother baby scholars alike, who argue that the mother/baby dyad has a distinct holistic character. Kangaroo Mother Care is a holistic approach to mother and baby care.

Lactatioin Consultations in-office or in your home

We offer vists and classes in our Sterling office or in your own home. Mothers often ask which we recommend. We have found over the  years that visits done in our office tend to be more productive and beneficial  to mother, baby and dad. Why is this?

This may be due to the fact that getting out of your own environment for a couple of hours can prove to be relaxing and refreshing, allowing you to fully enjoy your baby during the visit. Many mothers report feeling the most relaxed they have felt since before their baby's birth.

A visit without the older siblings around allows you to concentrate on your new baby and really absorb the new information.

Dads get more involved when they come to our office. As your #1 support person, your partner can be a crucial part of your breastfeeding success.

Our office has everything you and your baby need to master the art of breast feeding, so that you can return home feeling refreshed, relaxed and more confident.
  • a calm and relaxing atmosphere
  • a very comfortable chair
  • a bed for learning to breastfeed lying down
  • baby weigh scales with a milk intake function that tells us how much milk your baby drank during the feed
  • video clips and posters to assist you in learning how to accomplish a pain-free latch
  • books for resources
As numerous mothers have experienced, our office "is full of oxytocin"-the hormone released every time your milk lets down. Oxytocin is the hormone that causes you to LOVE what you are doing and never want it to end. It also causes you and your baby to relax and get sleepy.

  •   We specialize in a relaxing and calm 2 hour initial visit and 60 minute follow-up visits.
  • We follow up with you until your breast feeding issues are resolved.
  • At the end of each visit we discuss a plan of care for you and your baby. We give you a folder with all the necessary handouts for you to follow the plan of care.
  • We send reports of your visits to your  midwife or OB doctor and to your baby's physician or nurse practitioner.
  • All necessary supplies are included in the cost of your visits except for pump parts or optional supplies.
  • We carry a full line of Bravado and Medela nursing bras for your convenience.
  • We ask that all fees be paid at the time of service.
