Many doctors do not want babies coming directly to them without first meeting with a lactation specialist experienced in evaluating posterior tongue ties. A great deal of teaching is included in the consultation with a skilled lactation consultant. Most doctors do not have the time to provide this comprehensive education about tongue tie and frenulum division.
