Excerpt from February '08 Metro Mamma newsletter:  "Mothers & Company is a resource you have to know about! The word is getting out that this place is the place for mommas-to-be and new mommas, alike, and was even featured front and center in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette last week.

The MoCo Studio hosts a full package of classes that couples take before they have the baby and they specialize in classes that are not offered anywhere else in Central MA; Natural Childbirth, Hypnobirthing(r) and a breastfeeding class that everyone raves about, can you imagine? The Studio is certainly a warm alternative to hospital-based classes and yet all the same information is covered in-depth by certified, knowledgeable and friendly educators...." WELCOME!

Do I really need to take a Breastfeeding Class?
In our culture, we have all grown up watching babies bottle-feed. That is what is imprinted in our brains. Babies are hardwired to breastfeed, but oftentimes moms actually interfere with their baby's natural reflex. Come learn how to let your baby be the ruler and you the guide.

Can I learn how to breastfeed before my baby is born?
Did you learn to ride a bicylce without a bicycle? No. Neither can you learn how to breastfeed without your baby. Babies & Mothers learn to breastfeed by breastfeeding. But...you need to know a lot more about breastfeeding. I will teach you how to follow your baby's cues so that breastfeeding will be much easier.

When should I take a breastfeeding class?
You want to take it closer enough to the time of your baby's birth day so that you remember what you have learned. Aim for taking the class about 2-4 weeks before your due date.

I hear that breastfeeding hurts. Is this true?
Yes and no. Breastfeeding should not hurt, but in America mothers often report nipple pain. Pain always tells you that something is wrong. Fix it NOW! Latch and positioning are the keys to comfortable breastfeeding. I will teach you everything you ever wanted to know about latching and positioning--Debbie's GPS-Great Positioning Session. Believe me it is FUN!

Why are you qualified to teach a breastfeeding class?
I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
and a Mother/Baby registered nurse. I have been teaching mothers, fathers, nurses, physicians and others for over 30 years. Yes, 30 years. Probably longer than you are old! I nursed all three of my biological children when there was no one to help me. Trust me. I know Breastfeeding! You will leave my class ready to go!
