Do I really need to take a Breastfeeding Class?

WELCOME!

In our culture, we have all grown up watching babies bottle-feed. That is what is imprinted in our brains. Babies are hardwired to breastfeed, but oftentimes moms actually interfere with their baby's natural reflex. Come learn how to let your baby be the ruler and you the guide.

Can I learn how to breastfeed before my baby is born?

Did you learn to ride a bicylce without a bicycle? No. Neither can you learn how to breastfeed without your baby. Babies & Mothers learn to breastfeed by breastfeeding. But...you need to know a lot more about breastfeeding to get off to a great start. I will teach you how to follow your baby's cues so that breastfeeding will be much easier.

When should I take a breastfeeding class?

You want to take it closer enough to the time of your baby's birth day so that you remember what you have learned. Aim for taking the class about 2-4 weeks before your due date.

I hear that breastfeeding hurts. Is this true?

Yes and no. Breastfeeding should not hurt, but in America mothers often report nipple pain. Pain always tells you that something is wrong. Fix it NOW! Latch and positioning are the keys to comfortable breastfeeding. I will teach you everything you ever wanted to know about latching and positioning--Debbie's GPS-Great Positioning Session. Believe me it is FUN!
